Your computer's serial port is connected to the firecracker interface.

The Firecracker software allows you to control up to 16 X10 devices. The kit includes the firecracker computer interface, a wireless transceiver, a lamp module and the firecracker software.

The kit includes the hardware and software you need to start your X10 home automation. If you are looking for a starter X10 computer kit, you should look at the Firecracker four piece starter kit. (I am going to experiment with A15, to see if it "wraps" around and turns on A1).

If you don't want this "feature" make sure the next address is not used. For example, if you set A5 as the address the sensor should send signals to, then modules with an A6 address will be turned on at darkness and off when light is detected. That is, the next HIGHEST number will receive an ON signal when darkness is detected and OFF when light is detected. There are two buttons on the MS13A which allow you to change the address to control, how long to wait before sending the OFF signal, whether to work only at night or every time it detects motion.Īnother "feature" is that it can turn on lights when it gets dark. There are two mounting holes in the battery area so you can secure the unit to the wall. 75" deep, finished in a flat white color. This device is small, approximately 2.5" x 2.5" by.

I used a Palm Pad to show it also was processing a house code P1.The MS13A motion sensor is another module available for X10 home automation. I know the RF devices send a few times for a better reliability. It also looks like it sent the power line message twice for each command. I had to move closer to the CM15A for it to receive the UR19A. Should I be seeing any X10 activity in the Event Viewer when I hit the RF buttons? I do see them when I manually activate the Dummy A2 On and Off in the device tree. At any rate, with what I've done now, having the CM15A and a TM751 on the same outlet as the PLM, I still get nothing. Will that be absolutely necessary? I just thought that was supposed to be a solution for having a module work if it wasn't on the same line as the CM15A.

I haven't come across it since we recently moved, but I will definitely try that too.Īlso at that previous house, I did install a X10 Bridge in the panel which I'm sure also helped, but I can't find that either. It seems like I do remember that I had the X10 Security Console in use at one point at our old house, and things worked pretty good then. I have my CM15A plugged into the same circuit as my PLM, as well as one of the transceivers.ĭo I need to have the USB on the CM15A plugged into my PC? I'm not even using the Active Home Pro software anymore. I do have a few of the X10 Transceivers - but not sure if they resend the X10 commnads on the powerline for the PLM to receive.īTW, I did also purchase the X10 Module for this new ISY994i, even though it doesn't seem that i really needed to. So, my question obviously is, how do I get RF signals into the ISY to control Insteon devices. When I manually turn the A2 device On in the device tree, the light turns on and I can see that program running. If I hit that switch, nothing ever happens.

I've created a dummy X10 device (A2) and have set the RF 2nd switch to be A2. I am not having any success with using this RF switch to turn on the light. I have created a program in Admin Control that if it sees an X10 (A2) On, then turn Insteon device (office light) On. My reasoning - I already have these, so there's no out of pocket, and the Insteon comparable product is $80. I have some 3 - Unit RF Style Switches (SS13A) that I would like to use to trigger programs that control Insteon devices. I still have a bunch of X10 devices, but I am not wanting to control them. I've just in the past week upgraded that to the ISY994i. I then got tired of the unreliability of that system and upgraded to Insteon, with the ISY99i. I have done the normal progression of first owning an Active Home Pro system with tons of X10 devices.
